Ways to avoid or lessen symtpoms

I have suffered from symptoms of RSI for some time and through my research on the subject I have come across some ways to help avoid or at least ease the symptoms. Some have helped me. Maybe some of these can help some of you.

Try to keep your posture straight and avoid slouching while using your computer.

Take frequent short breaks every hour or so and get away from your computer.

During these breaks do strectching exercises. Stretch your hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, etc. Also, do what are called range of motion exercises. these are fequently used by physical therapists for people with arthritis and similar afflictions.

Especially if your are having pain or other symptoms you need to limit computer use to only what is absolutely necessary. Don't make things worse by playing games, answering emails from friends, etc.

Talk with your doctor but you may want to consider a wrist brace. they can be found at Wal-Mart or any other store that has a pharmacy or sells health and beuty aids.

I hope one or more of these suggestions can help some of you.

Doesn't the pain and numbness in your hands and/or wrists actually get
worse when you try to rest it? I know I've heard it about CT, and for
RSI, too, at least for me, when I lie down at night to sleep, it's worse
than when I was up. I need to brace it sometimes at night but I suspect
that's not the best treatment.
