gel filled keyboard pad

I'm not sure what exactly the product is called but I have found a pad that is gel filled and allows you to rest your wrists almost even with the keyboard as opposed to having your wrists rest on the desk and actually having to reach up to use the keyboard. There are mouse pads that do the same thing, resting your rest on a raised, gel filled area of the pad. Both products seem to relieve some of the pressure on the wrist and hands an dboth can be found at just about any office supply store.

Hi! Sounds comfy. What I'm using right now is a little piece of wood and 2 inches wide, half an inch thick, and about a foot long. It's where I rest the base of my palm. A gel-filled pad would be a major improvement. :)

lol, I use one for my mouse but I've read that you really shouldn't be resting your hands on the desk/keyboard at all, especially when you are typing. Try to keep them suspended above the keyboard and rest them on your lap when you're not typing.

i am using this particular gel pad for my mouse. have been using it for quite a long time, so the area where the gel is has become quite hard. i guess i will just have to change it. karl, wont it be fine to keep hands on the gel pad while typing instead of suspending it in the air? it will be quite comfortable i guess.

I wont pretend to be an expert here, but from everything I have read you should avoid resting them at all. Any pressure on the wrist area will contribute towards pain. So, from what I understand, a gel rest is a big improvment over resting it on a hard surface, but if you can, avoid resting it at all.

i was just trying the method you just suggested above, not putting the hands on the surface at all. got to admit, thats a pretty strange way of typing:) and felt quite uncomfortable. but i guess with practice one can master this technique.

We have the gel pads for our mouse and I have to say that since we switched over my wrist is much more confortable that it was when we had nothing. I have even purchased a mouse and gel filled pad for my laptop as it seems to be more comfortable for everyone that using the little mouse button on the keyboard.

It's funny that you talk about gel filled items. I recently purchased a gel filled brush. The handle is cushioned with gel to lessen the stress on the hand. I have noticed a difference. Especially when I do all my girls hair one right after another!
