Would Ice or Heat Help?

Sometimes when my wrist is acting up with the numbness, I feel like an ice pack would help... but I've never actually done it. Would that help, do you think? Or maybe the opposite and putting it on a heating pad for a while? Have any of you tried either of these for relief?

actually ice pack does help, it reduces inflammation and stimulates blood flow in the iced . one can apply apply ice packs or a bag of frozen peas to the required area.

Good information here, thank you. I think that a contrast bath sounds like it would be very relaxing when my wrist is numb and I'll have to remember that when it starts acting up again.

Somewhere in the house I have an infared hand-held lamp. I've tried it for other things in the past and it never seemed to make a difference... not sure if it would for this or not but I need to look for it. I *can* however, see how plopping a pack of frozen peas on it when it's numb might feel great and actually help.

I think an icepack is a short-term fix, whereas heat treatment via infrared lamps is a more long-ter fix. (Dont quote me on that, it was just a thought)

I dont know if it would help you, but when i get back pain i use deep heat or something similar which does help, does anyone know if it would help RSI symptoms?

Ice can help reduce swelling and pain because it constricts the blood vessels and reduces the flow of blood to the area. You have to be careful not to leave ice on too long.

Personally I'd have to plop the pack of peas (hey, why wouldn't corn work? Why just peas... a mystery! hehe) or ice pack on top of my wrist where it's numb. I can't see how having it underneath would be too beneficial.

I actually tried the frozen veggies a few weeks ago... it works a lot
better with something that will shape to the curve of the wrist (which is
why broccoli isn't as good for it) :-) But yeah, peas or corn after
broken apart feel *real* nice on a numb top-of-wrist.
